During all migration projects people implement new things, which is a good practice.
but every migration project is an opportunity to make environment clean. Archive unused databases, thus decreasing amount of database you need to retest,
and also make configuration more understandable and readable.
IBM has published technote, absolete notes.ini parameters in release 8, and links to obsolete links in release 6 and 7.
take a look, may be you are usings something that is obsolete now, so you have to find what changed.

What notes.ini variables have become obsolete in Notes/Domino 7.x?
|
| | Question | What notes.ini variables have become obsolete in Lotus® Domino® 7, and where are they documented? | | | Answer | The "Obsolete NOTES.INI variables" table can be found in the Domino 7.x Release Notes. (By Product -> Domino Server -> About this release -> Backward compatibility -> Obsolete NOTES.INI variables.) For your convenience, the table has been provided below. Note: Although Domino 7 ignores most obsolete settings, removing or commenting out obsolete settings is recommended. You can use a text editor to edit the notes.ini. Obsolete NOTES.INI variables The NOTES.INI variables listed below have been made obsolete; either because UI settings exist to enable the functionality or because the functionality is longer required:
Variable | Reason for obsolescence | LDAPAddress | In Domino 5.0.1a and subsequent releases, including the Lotus Domino 6 release and later, the LDAPAddress NOTES.INI variable is ignored. For Domino R5 servers and later, bind a Notes TCP port to a specific address, and then have the LDAP service use the Notes port. | namelookup_trust_dircat | Functionality enabled by the Directory Information setting "Trust the server based condensed directory catalog for authentication with internet protocols" in the Server document of the Domino Directory server. | NWNDSPASSWORD | IPX/SPX is not supported as of Domino 7.0 | NWNDSUSERID | IPX/SPX is not supported as of Domino 7.0 | Shared_Mail | | WebAuth_AD_Group | Functionality enabled by the Active Directory search filter option, which allows for searches of Active Directory groups | iNotes_WA_Chat | Functionality enabled by the Domino Web Access Instant Messaging setting "Instant Messaging features" in the Configuration Settings document of the Domino Directory server. | iNotes_WA_LiveNames | Functionality enabled by the Domino Web Access Instant Messaging setting "Online awareness" in the Configuration Settings document of the Domino Directory server. | iNotes_WA_NoLocalArchive | Functionality now enabled by the Domino Web Access setting "Local Archiving" in the Configuration Settings document of the Domino Directory server. | iNotes_WA_OOO_RunOnWeekends | This setting was used to run the Out-of-Office agent for mail databases based on the inotes5.ntf template only, and is not necessary for iNotes6.ntf or DWA7.ntf mail templates. The iNotes5.ntf mail template is not an available in Domino 7. | iNotes_WA_SametimeJavaConnect | Functionality enabled by the Domino Web Access Instant Messaging setting "Prefer Sametime Java Connect for browsers" in the Configuration Settings document of the Domino Directory server. | iNotes_WA_SametimeServer | Functionality enabled by the Domino Web Access Instant Messaging setting "Set an Instant Messaging server hostname for all DWA users" in the Configuration Settings document of the Domino Directory server. | iNotes_WA_SametimeToken | Functionality enabled by the Domino Web Access Instant Messaging setting "Allow secrets and tokens authentication" in the Configuration Settings document of the Domino Directory server. | iNotes_WA_STLinksLocal | Functionality enabled by the Domino Web Access Instant Messaging setting "Loading \stlinks from Domino application server" in the Configuration Settings document of the Domino Directory server. | iNotes_WA_OOO _RunOnWeekends | This setting was used to run the Out-of-Office agent for mail databases based on the inotes5.ntf template only, and is not necessary for iNotes6.ntf or DWA7.ntf mail templates. The iNotes5.ntf mail template is not an available in Domino 7. | iNotes_WA_NoLocalArchive | Functionality now enabled by the Domino Web Access setting "Local Archiving" in the Configuration Settings document of the Domino Directory server. |

Obsolete notes.ini parameters for Notes/Domino 6.5
|
| | Question | What are the obsolete notes.ini parameters for Lotus Notes/Domino® 6.5? | | | Cause | With updates to the Domino Directory and new functionality added to Lotus Notes/Domino 6, some notes.ini settings have become obsolete. Lotus Notes/Domino 6 ignores most obsolete settings. However, removing or commenting out obsolete settings is recommended. You can use a text editor to edit the notes.ini file. | | | Answer | This information is taken from the Domino Administrator Help Database version 6.5. It is also located in the 6.5 Release Notes. The following table lists Lotus Notes/Domino versions 4.6 and 5 notes.ini settings that are either no longer supported or that no longer require you to manually set their values in Lotus Notes/Domino 6.
NOTES.INI setting | Comment | AdminPInterval | | AdminPModifyPersonDocumentsAt | | Config_DB | Replace Config_DB with Report_DB. | LDAP_CountryCheck | See the topic "LDAP Schema changes in Lotus Domino 6" in the Domino Administrator Help Database for more information. | LDAP_Enforce_Schema | | LDAP_Strict_RFC_Adherence | | LDAP_UTF8results | | KillProcess | Fault Recovery now performs the function previously performed by this setting. | Mailclusterfailover* | Configured by Lotus Domino 6. Remove or comment out this setting. | New_DNParse | | NNTPAddress | Not supported. | NNTP_Delete_Days | Not supported. | NNTP_Delete_Days_Expired | Not supported. | NNTP_Initial_Feed_All | Not supported. | NNTP_Previous_X_servername | Not supported. | NNTP_Prohibit_NEWSNEWS_Command | Not supported. | NNTP_PullAsServer | Not supported. | Server_Name_Lookup_Noupdate* | Configured by Lotus Domino 6. Remove or comment out this setting. | WebAuth_AD_Group | | WebAdmin_Disable_Force_GUI | | WebAdmin_Expire_Cache
*Because these settings are configured by Lotus Domino, they no longer appear in the notes.ini file. However, if you do not manually remove or comment out these settings from an existing notes.ini file, Lotus Domino 6 continues to support them. Obsolete notes.ini variables This table lists obsolete variables for supported notes.ini settings. If the following variables are not removed from their notes.ini settings after the upgrade process, you can manually remove these variables from the file.
NOTES.INI setting | NOTES.INI setting variables | ServerTasks | Apple Talk, CLREPL, CLDBDIR, Design, NNTP, Object Collect mailobj.nsf, Report, SMTP MTA
